| The doors of Grant Christian School opened for the first time on Sept. 9, 1946. Fifty-five enrolled students entered the two classroom school, instructed by two teachers, Mr. and Mrs. Mulder. Action began in 1944 which led to the completion of G.C.S. Tuition was established at a flat rate of $100, and there were nine grades, beginning with first. “Thus ended the long hours of planning and praying for the establishment of our school. Disappointments and disagreements marked the pathway, but through it all God was guiding and leading,” as recorded by the founders from the Grant Christian Reformed Church. The first 9th grade graduating class still has a reunion each year. Pictured above are some members of the first graduating class together with the graduates of 2006, the year of our school's 60th anniversary. |
