Grant Christian School (G.C.S.) Boys’ Basketball Team rose to the top at a recent basketball tournament held in South Olive. The tournament hosted the five area Christian Athletic League (C.A.L.) schools. G.C.S. shot and rebounded their way to an intense final round, in which they defeated Lamont Christian School, 36-35. With only 3 seconds left on the clock and down by 1 point, Josh Clapp successfully sunk 2 free throws to seal the victory. Christian Brower led the G.C.S. Chargers with 16 points, while Clapp added 13.
Coach Lacy Perkins commented, “It’s been at least 13 years since we had the privilege of bringing home a C.A.L. trophy. Every guy on the team worked hard for this moment.” The Chargers completed their season with a 6-3 record, with the 3 three losses being by 3 points or less. |
