Kindergarten

Melissa Knol is our Kindergarten teacher. She graduated from Calvin College with a degree in Early Childhood Education and has a passion for teaching and for sharing the love of Christ with children. She has been teaching at Grant Christian School for the last seven years and loves the kids, families, and the community that surrounds GCS.

Kindergarten is five full days a week, with a short mid afternoon rest to help them transition into full time school. In Kindergarten students use manipulative as they explore patterns and grasp important math concepts through hands on learning. Letter and sounds come alive with Alphafriends, engaging students in reading and writing opportunities. Kindergartners enjoy themed days such as apple day, pumpkin day, Dr. Suess day, beach day, hundreds day, butterfly day, and so much more!

Kindergartners enjoy music, physical education, STEM, and art as they actively learn healthy ways to express themselves. They are also a part of our new outdoor science education program. All subjects are taught from a Christian perspective, as students are inspired to pursue excellence.

Kindergarten students participate in the following Special Classes: Physical Education, Music, Computers, STEM, Outdoor Science Education, and Art.
