The students have been very busy doing a multitude of activities in Outdoor Education. My kindergarten and 1st/2nd grade students learned about different bird beaks and how God made each bird's beak special to eat different types of food. The 3rd/4th graders have learned how to identify some local evergreen trees, along with dissecting owl pellets. They have been excited identifying different bones and determining the prey eaten by their owl. We will continue this activity next week as we learn more about owls and food webs. The 5th-8th graders have been preparing the inside of the hoop house. They installed weed barrier throughout and are busy spreading 15 yards of pea stone. Tuesday's beautiful sunshine allowed the temperature to soar to a hot and humid 80 degrees after lunch. The power of the sun is quite awesome. Our inaugural planting is just around the corner.
