Yesterday Grant Christian School hosted National Day of Prayer. What a wonderful time to come together as a community, from several counties and different denominations to pray and give praise to a mighty Savior! The National Day of Prayer is an annual day of observance designated by the United States Congress and held on the first Thursday of May, when people are asked "to turn to God in prayer and meditation".
The 3rd and 4th grade classroom has some "peeping" going on! Several baby chicks hatched yesterday and today.
Our Kindergartners enjoyed a trip to Frederick Meijer Gardens to see the butterflies after completing their insect unit! Many students even got to hold one! 🦋
The first and second graders learned how to make bagels this week. They also went on an outdoor scavenger hunt.
Today our kindergarten class learned about jack rabbits and the second graders learned about pond life. We enjoyed the beautiful outdoors today!
We have eggs, eggs and more eggs! Our 3rd/4th graders are busy collecting every day!
They are available for purchase, $3.00 a dozen. Stop in the office if you are interested.
Yesterday our Preschoolers got to go to Kindergarten for half the day! They learned all about bugs! They had fun searching for bugs inside and out on the playground with their new magnifying glasses!
Recess! Only at Grant Christian School!
We are excited to be hosting the National Day of Prayer on May 4! We will be meeting at the Grant Community Center at 11:30 am. We would love to see you there! Please join our school for lunch. The community is invited as Chick-fil-A, Two Hot Tamales and Kona Ice will be there for purchase!
Monet water lillies!
Are you ready for tonight?
We are! 6:00 at the Grant Community Center.
It was a great week at GCS to be in the classroom or outside enjoying the beautiful sunshine! Our 5th and 6th graders even had Bible outside using the snow tubes for chairs.
He is risen!
Our readers sure knocked it out of the park this year for reading month! ❤️
Our goal for the month was to read 30,000 minutes as a school, and we did it! 🎉 We will get to enjoy a Whitecaps baseball game to celebrate in May! Our class with the most minutes read, earning a pizza party, was the 1st and 2nd graders! Way to go! Pictured are our top readers for each grade!

Our Art room has been updated! A huge thank you to Grant Reformed Church and Christy Hutchinson (our Art teacher) and family for the donations and all the work that was put forth. It looks great!
Our 7th/8th graders are buddies with our kindergartners, they get to "hang out" twice a month. Today, they worked on a project together, the white cross represents how Jesus washed our sins away. Our kindergartners love it when their buddies come to their classroom.
We are hiring! 🎉🎉
As we begin to prepare for the 2023-2024 school year, we are looking for a part-time 2nd grade teacher! Next year we will have the 1st and 2nd graders taught separately in the morning for reading and math, and combined again in the afternoon for all other subjects. We are excited at this need for our rising numbers! We are grateful to keep our class sizes small for a more individualized education and grow our school at the same time! God is continuing to bless GCS!
If you or someone you know is interested in this position, please contact our Principal, David Vander Zanden, at 231-834-8445 or dvanderzanden@grantchristianschool.org
**A valid teaching certificate is required.
If you've ever wondered what it would be like to have your child be a GCS student, next Wednesday, March 29 is your chance! We will be having a Shadow Day at GCS. Come and spend the day with us! If you have ANY questions please call 231-834-8445.
Do you know or have a future preschooler or kindergartner? Plan on stopping in to Grant Christian School, Tuesday, March 28 between 6-7 for an open house. You will be able to meet the preschool and kindergarten teachers.
Every Wednesday we start our day with Chapel. Once a month Pastor Jordan Chambers from Grant Community Church leads us. We are so thankful for him!
We also eat lunch in the gym with our chapel groups, this morning our 7th/8th graders set the tables/chairs up for us.
